BRITAIN’S military was investigating reports that an oil tanker managed by Zodiac Maritime, an Israeli billionaire’s company, has been attacked in the Arabian Sea.

“We are aware of reports of an attack on a merchant vessel off the coast of Oman,” the Ministry of Defence in London said on Friday.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations – The Royal Navy’s anti-piracy taskforce – issued a report of and attack about 280km off the coast of Oman.

Zodiac Maritime said it was “a suspected piracy incident” involving the tanker Mercer Street, a Japanese-owned vessel.
