SIFISO Mthembu, 26, was found stabbed to death yesterday morning in Greyville, Durban.

The incident took place outside the entrance to a flat in Mansel Road, where Mthembu and his girlfriend lived. He was allegedly stabbed by his girlfriend’s former boyfriend, who is believed to have recently threatened him.

Mbuso Mthembu, Sifiso’s brother said, “I spoke to his girlfriend after the incident and she told me that they had been out during the night and had been drinking. When they returned around 3am, her ex-boyfriend showed up and told my brother that he had been looking for him.”

Mbuso said that his brother’s girlfriend told him they were helpless when the incident happened because they were intoxicated.

Mbuso said Sifiso was from enanda. He said he saw his brother last week in the CBD. Sifiso told him that he was “in hiding” after receiving death threats.

He said he advised Sifiso last week to come home for a traditional ceremony.

“He looked uneasy and said that he had to go back to his flat quickly since he was threatened by his girlfriend’s ex,” Mbuso said.

The suspect had reportedly lived in the same flat as Sifiso and his girlfriend before moving to Mayville.

Police officers were at the scene but had yet to respond to the Sunday Tribune regarding the incident.
