GADDAFI’S ELECTION BID
A COURT in southern Libya has reinstated Saif al-islam Gaddafi, son of slain dictator Muammar Gaddafi, as a candidate in this month’s presidential election, Libyan media reported. He had lodged an appeal against the electoral commission’s rejection of his application last month on the grounds of his criminal record.
He had been sentenced to death by a Tripoli court for crimes committed during the revolt that toppled his father. A rival administration later pardoned him but he is still wanted by the International Criminal Court for alleged war crimes. |
