GUINEA TO PROSECUTE EX PM
GUINEA will prosecute former prime minister Ibrahima Kassory Fofana over the alleged embezzlement of more than $4 million (about R65m) in public funds intended for economic, political and social programmes. He is also being investigated for allegedly embezzling more than $40m in Covid aid. Justice Minister Alphonse Charles Wright said the charges related to payments made in 2020. Fofana served as prime minister from May 2018 until September 2021. He has been detained since April. |
