Actress returns to Netflix series

DURBAN actress Katishcka Kiara returned to the screens on Friday when season three of the South African original Netflix series, Blood & Water, was released globally.

Katishcka, 24, who plays the role of Pauline, has more on-screen time with her character.

Blood & Water follows a high school girl who transfers to an elite private school when she has suspicions that it is attended by her long-lost sister.

Her sister was abducted at birth, but Pauline is hoping to find her.

Pauline joined the storyline last year in the second season.

She formed an unlikely friendship and business partnership with the character, Reece, and their escapades intertwined with the story of the other characters in the show, unfolding even more drama.

Katishcka said she had grown so much in season three, having learnt so much from the industry.

“Just having chemistry with the rest of the cast is great. Pauline’s character grew a lot and her storyline developed a lot more.

“There’s a lot more drama involved. Pauline is a very rebellious and feisty character with a business mind. In this season, she takes control of the drug business.

“It’s cool to play a character that’s very different from me.

“I would follow the rules and I was super academic. I have a clear moral compass. But Pauline has a drug business in high school,” said Katishcka.

She studied at Afda Durban and graduated with a BA degree in live performance.

After graduating, Katishcka starred in the short film, Slumber Party, directed by Palesa Lebona, which was part of the National Film and Video Foundation’s Female Film-maker’s Project.

Katishcka has shot another Netflix series called The Hive which will air next year.

She also stars in a coming Amazon series, The Power.

On the content creation and influencer front, Katishcka collaborates and partners with brands to create content on Instagram and Tiktok.

She said her ultimate goal was to make a break on the international circuit.
