PUBLIC Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan said midweek that steps had been taken to find funds to buy diesel to run the open-cycle gas turbines after Eskom ran out of funds.

Gordhan said 50 million litres of diesel had already been provided by Petrosa.

He made the statements in reply to an urgent question in the National Assembly by DA MP Ghaleb Cachalia who had asked what was being done to enable Eskom to buy diesel to avoid the potential collapse of the power grid.

Eskom has exhausted its budget allocated for diesel for this year. |
